Kozaky
A living history group that is deeply interested in the Ukrainian Kozak (Cossack) struggles of the mid 17th century. Recreating the life and wars of this period with camps, feasts, folk/traditional healing and lore, LIVE BLADE duels, tactical battles, firearms, cannons and did we say feasting!
The group specifically recreates a Kozaky free troop from the wild fields under a Banita, or banished noble. This allows more freedom for character development and female participation. Activities:
I, To develop an authentic recreation of a free Cossack band (Kozaky) under Bohdan Khmelnitsky 1648-57 with the typical camp followers.
II, To develop authentic (yet safe) recreations of dueling and military practices of the period.
III, To enjoy feasting, games, music, folklore, fellowship and dancing in the style of the period Kozaky society.
IV, To promote interest in war-games depicting the wars of the Kozaky.
V, to promote the authentic Kobzar music. The Epic Ukrainian songs with bandura, as done so well by Andrij Kytasty.
VI, To To develop an authentic recreation of a free Cossacks and the Black Cossacks of the Ukrainian Civil War 1917-21, the great and tragic Kozaky Wars Against the Red invader and others
